A creative and clever man in his twenties came to us with an idea. He wanted to write a book but he didn’t feel he could write anything clever enough to be sold. That’s a common thought for many would-be writers, and yet after years of interviewing people we find it’s not true. The best books are based on true events and the stories of real life.
It only took one interview to realize he was a unique individual with an unusually sharp wit, a guru’s quiet voice and a mind that was always reflecting on the bigger ideas and events around him. He was a people person that everyone loved but too humble to admit it, let alone write about himself.
A few interviews and four months later, we finally came up with a format for a book idea. We wanted it to be as unique as he was. After developing an outline of chapters and concepts, we ghost-wrote the bones of the book and worked with him on voice, dialogue and illustrations. Over the course of a year, he rounded out the content and we worked with him to self-publish the book. At the same time, we created the website and social media and started the promotion rounds.
